People's Brewing Co.

Looking for a place to try some Indiana beers? People’s Brewing Co. is just the place to do so. A taproom is open for your enjoyment 2-8pm during the week and 12-8pm on the weekends. Take a brewery tour free of charge on the weekends for a more behind the scenes look at how the beer is made and for more helpful information of the beer you will be enjoying at the People’s Brewing Co.

Lafayette-West Lafayette

Activities range from historical and architectural landmarks to nightlife including wineries and breweries. Fun for the whole family can be head in the area. Columbian Park

Columbian Park is a park with different features to offer for some fun in the sun this summer! With Tropicanoe Cove, Columbian Park Zoo, Loeb Stadium, and other facilities this is a park worth the visit. The park is located right in Lafayette, only a short drive from the hotel. Columbian Park allows for many different types of relaxation and is great for the whole family to enjoy for the day or weekend!

Wolf Park

Wolf Park is a place for education, research, and fun.  Located just twenty minutes from the hotel it is a great way to spend the afternoon. They offer guided tours, howl nights, fox talks and other special events that allow for interaction with the animals. What better way to spend an afternoon than learning about and interacting with gray wolves, coyotes, red foxes, gray foxes, and bison?

Star of America to Indy Airport

Many guests of the Courtyard by Marriott are traveling into the area through the Indianapolis Airport. A great way to save money from renting a car would be to take a shuttle and what a great convenience that the Star of America Shuttle is there to serve you. The Shuttle departs the airport every two hours on the even hours to travel to the Courtyard and then departs the Courtyard every two hours on the even hours to travel back to the airport. The Shuttle makes no stops between the Courtyard and Airport so you can be sure they will always be on time.

Booking your seat online before hand will ensure you have a seat and this can be done on the shuttle website. Guests of the Courtyard are welcome to use the business center on the first floor to book their seat.

Triple XXX

A diner that has been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives sounds like a great place for your next meal. Triple XXX is located in West Lafayette and offers many different chop steaks that will be sure to quench your hunger. The Drew Brees is always a crowd pleaser. David Boudia has recently gotten his own signature item on the menu. This family restaurant has their very own Triple XXX Root Beer that goes perfect with every meal.

Lafayette Farmers Market

The Greater Lafayette area offers three farmer markets every week from May all the way through October. This is a great way to get fresh veggies, fruits, baked goods, and other fresh items for your kitchen! There is always music going on to help you enjoy your time picking and choosing your goods. Not looking for items to use to cook? You can also find grab and go type meals such as a bowl of soup or a sandwich.

The market occurs at three different locations throughout the week. Wednesday afternoon it takes place at a park in West Lafayette, Thursday late morning is on Purdue University’s campus, and Saturday morning happens in downtown Lafayette. Star of America to Purdue

Star of America is a great shuttle service that picks up right in front of the Courtyard by Marriott and takes you right on to Purdue University’s campus. Save the hassle of finding a parking spot or trying to drive around campus. Book a night, relax with us and let the Star of America drivers take you back and forth to campus. Stops departing from the Courtyard to campus leave every two hours on the odd hours. Stops include the Follett’s Purdue West, Tarkington Hall, and Purdue Memorial Union. Service runs every two hours, on the even hours to come back to the hotel from campus. On Purdue’s website, http://www.purdue.edu/ , you will be able to obtain a campus map to further prepare for yourself for your trip.

Lafayette Brewing Co.

Award winning ales are brewed right here in Lafayette on Main Street at The Lafayette Brewing Company. They opened their doors 20 years ago and have been doing great business brewing delicious ales as well as cooking up some mouth-watering foods. The beers have been awarded many awards from places such as Indiana State Fair and the World Beer Championship.

They are open up at 11:00am everyday and close at midnight Monday-Thursday, 1:00am Friday and Saturday, and 11:00pm Sundays. Whyte Horse Winery

Whyte Horse Winery is located at the charming lake resort community of Monticello, Indiana. The facility is set in a renovated 1886 farmhouse decorated with elegant woodwork and antique furnishings. The winter operating hours are Tuesdays through Saturday from 11:00am - 6:00pm, from noon - 5:00pm on Sunday. There are 2 separate tasting rooms along with a banquet room. A lot of people have chosen this beautiful vineyard for their weddings. There are also 2 annual car shows that take place here during the summer time.


Whyte Horse winery uses oak barrel fermentation as often possible for their wine. They specializes fruit-forward wines. For example, their Chardonnay is malolactic fermented, finished sur-lee, and fermented in 100% French oak barrels. And their Blackberry is one of the award-winning wines in the State of Indiana.  They currently have fourteen wines, with our holiday wine, and Jingles.

Knickerbocker Saloon

Established in 1835 as the "Cherry Wood Bar" of the Lahr Luxury hotel, and issued Indiana's very first Liquor License. This is the fact Indiana's OLDEST bar!!

Mourtain Jack's in Lafayette, Indiana

Father's Day Weekend

Have you gotten your dad his present for this weekend?  If you have absolutely no clue what I am referring to, it's Father's Day!  If you are forgetful like I am, no worries, there are some fun local activities that you could take Dad or the family to.  For starters, the Taste Of Tippecanoe is this Saturday June 16, 2012!  At the Taste, you will be able to enjoy good music and nice weather.  Also, there will be samples of food from many local restaurants.  All ages are welcome to this event!

In addition to this special weekend, the Historic Centennial Hollyshock Festival will be held at the corner of 6th and Brown Street form 11 am to 2 pm.  This event will have complimenatary food and beverages.  There will also be activities for kids to do as well as walking tours.  Therefore, if you are in town and have no plans then stop by both places and enjoy!

Weekend Activities

Lately we have had some gorgeous weather that is perfect for outdoor activities!  Why not get out and enjoy it before the seasons change and it's winter once again.  A great way to enjoy the outdoor and weather is to take a hike or a jog at one of our many local parks that provide beautiful scenery. Whether you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere like that of the Clegg Botananical Gardens which over looks Wildcat Creek and is home to all sorts of flowers, grasses and plants. If you need something a little more upbeat or family oriented, your best options are either Happy Hallow Park or Armstrong Park.  Both parks provide playgrounds and trails that are perfect for those who like to multi task, take a nice jog or walk and take the kids to have some play time.  If you are one of our future guests, keep in mind Munger Park, which is perfect for a morning jog, is only two miles away from our property.  Keep in mind most parks close at dusk, so take advantage of these long summer days and enjoy the lovely outdoors.
